How to reduce the cost of California Health Insurance
Topic A has been reducing monthly expenses in all areas of recurring cost. We speak to our clients every day about ways to reduce their health insurance premium. If you're a small business, individual or family, it's our job to get you into the least expensive California health insurance plan with the best benefits.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California are always negotiating rates with providers to get their members the lowest costs for medical services.
Here's an example. I had a check-up yesterday at Dr. Robert Gabbay's office. If you have no insurance he charges $100 for an office visit. But, because I'm a Blue Shield member, I only pay $40. Also, as part of the physical process he orders blood work. What I like about Dr. Gabbay is he lets me choose what tests I want and he explains my options and tells me what they cost, up front. No doctor has ever done that before in my experience. At least this way, I, as the consumer of medical services, know what it's going to cost before I consume the service. Have you ever had a doctor let you make that kind of choice before? As medical expenses increase along with our premiums I think it's only fair of the doctors and other medical services providers to have to give you this kind of choice and let you be in control of your health care cost.
Another example of saving money as a member of Blue Shield of California, when I left Dr. Gabbay's office I went to a Blue Shield contracted lab and had the blood work done. If I was not a member of Blue Shield they would charge $120 for the blood draw test. I paid $20 for the same service. So by being a Blue Shield member I saved $160 for those services.
